New York, May 2011, ‘London to NYC’ was the second program of NYC-EDC’s World to NYC initiative, which promotes trade and investment between New York City and London by hosting business delegations of UK and Singaporean-based companies and helping them expand to New York City.
We were approached to participate in the ‘Meet the Experts’ panel which was hosted at the Midtown offices of CBRE. The panel also included CBRE’s first VP Gregory Kraut, attorneys Allan Rooney and Tim Fisher of Allan J.P. Rooney, P.C., and Emre Ozgu of Barst Mukamal & Kleiner LLP.
Dee Reynolds spoke exclusively on recruitment options for ‘start-up’ businesses. “Preparation is crucial. You have already made a significant commitment by taking the time to come to the U.S. to assess the opportunity and learn the market entry process. It is therefore imperative to have a plan and budget in place for your U.S. hiring needs. You want to find the right person for your business and you can’t afford to make a mistake as hiring the wrong person can disintegrate your U.S. budget in a matter of months, setting you back years in your U.S. strategy. I can’t stress enough to engage with providers who know the NYC market.’
It was hugely beneficial to be invited to speak at this event to continue to understand the changing needs of entrepreneurs and provide knowledge where we can. We are looking forward to the next NYC-EDC event, with London partner Glasshouse, in the Fall of 2011.
